A name from across the provinces.
Pick a race and we roll a name that follows the canonical naming patterns of Tamriel: Ja-Kha'jay prefixes for Khajiit, nature-hyphenated for Argonian, patronymic for Nord, ash-and-house for Dunmer, and so on through all ten races.

About this generator
This is a fan-made Elder Scrolls / Skyrim race name generator. Each of the ten races has its own pool of name parts, tuned to the canonical patterns documented across Tamriel:
- Khajiit use the Ja-Kha'jay prefix system (Ra', Do', Da', Ma') joined to a theme noun.
- Argonian names are nature-hyphenated (Many-Stones, Walks-In-Shadow).
- Nord names lean on harsh consonants and patronymics (son-of / daughter-of).
- Dunmer use ash-and-house themes; Bosmer short woodland compounds; Imperials Latinate roots; Redguards sun-and-sword tones; Bretons French-Anglo blends; Altmer tall, vowel-rich names; Orsimer short, sharp tribal names.
Original execution — we use no Bethesda logos, sprites or trademarks.
How to use
1. Pick a race from the row of cards. 2. Hit Roll a name. 3. Copy or share the result. Reroll until a name lands.
For roleplay, the lore note is a one-line story seed — use it as a hook for your character's first scene, or ignore it.
Frequently asked questions
Are these real Tamriel names?
No — we never reuse named NPCs. Each name is generated from original word parts tuned to match how that race tends to sound on UESP and in the games.
Can I use these in Skyrim, ESO or Oblivion Remastered?
Yes. The names follow each race's canonical syllable shape, so they tend to fit the in-game name policies. If one is taken, roll again.
What is the Ja-Kha'jay?
It's the Khajiit "moon-pattern" — the moons under which a Khajiit is born determines the prefix on their name (Ra', Do', Ma', Da', Ja', Dro', Ri', S', Ko', etc.). We use that system for the Khajiit pattern.
Why do Argonian names have hyphens?
Argonians born in Black Marsh take a hatching-name from their tribe — a noun phrase describing them or the world around them. The hyphenated form is the most common written rendering.
Is this affiliated with Bethesda?
No. The Elder Scrolls, Skyrim, and all races and provinces are trademarks of ZeniMax / Bethesda. We use no logos, sprites or names of theirs.
Why are some races shown by two names?
Tamriel uses both the formal Aldmeri name (Dunmer, Bosmer, Altmer, Orsimer) and the common Tamrielic name (Dark Elf, Wood Elf, High Elf, Orc). Both are correct.
