across a galaxy of names

Space Opera Faction Names

Pick a faction. We forge a full record — name, title, signature weapon, homeworld, signature line — themed in the colour of your order. Not a single trademark used.

It is a time of upheaval. Across a galaxy of contested stars, the old orders argue with the new, and every traveller carries a name.

About this generator

Space opera lives or dies on names. The right one tells you the order, the homeworld and the body count in three syllables. The wrong one tells you nothing.

This generator builds full faction records — name, title, signature weapon, homeworld, signature line — and themes the page in the colour of your order. None of the names are sampled from any film, book or game. The shape is borrowed from the genre; the words are ours.

How to use it

Pick a faction at the top — the colour theme switches to match. Hit Forge a legend. You'll get a full record card. Hit it again and the record changes; pick a new faction and the colour palette changes too.

Use the records as RPG character seeds, callsigns, ship logs, fanfic NPCs, guild tags or just to find the right name for the masked figure you've been drawing for weeks.

Frequently asked questions

Are these from Star Wars?
No. The factions are the genre archetypes — warrior-monks with light-blades, dark mystics, bounty hunters, smugglers, imperial officers, rebel pilots, droids — but every name part is original. We don't sample from any film, book or game.
Can I use the names commercially?
Yes. The output is yours — names, titles, weapons, signature lines. Use them in tabletop campaigns, original fiction, indie games, podcasts, anything. No attribution needed.
Why does the page change colour?
Each faction gets its own palette — gold and blue for the warrior-monks, red and black for the dark mystics, dust and chrome for bounty hunters, neon green for smugglers, steel grey for imperial officers, rebel red for pilots, copper for droids. Pick one and the whole page switches.
How many combinations are possible?
Over 100 first-name parts, plus surnames, titles, weapons, homeworlds and signature lines per faction — millions of unique records. You won't see the same one twice.
Can I save the result?
Yes. There's a Copy button on every record card. Paste it into your character sheet, your D&D notes, your stream overlay, anywhere.
Is anything tracked?
Nothing. Every record is generated in your browser. No accounts, no logging, no analytics on the names themselves. Refresh and the legend is gone.
