About this generator

This is a fan-made Pokemon nickname generator. Pick one of the eighteen types and we roll six nicknames in one click — a curated mix of:

  • Punny — wordplay on the type's flavor.
  • Cute — short, friendly, sticker-energy.
  • Cool — sharp, edgy, battle-ready.
  • Mythological — names borrowed from myth and legend that feel right for the type.

Every entry respects the 12-character nickname limit the games enforce, so you can paste straight in. Original execution — we use no Nintendo / Game Freak / Creatures sprites, logos or trademarked names. Types are described by their color palette and aesthetic, never by reference to specific monsters.

How to use

1. Tap a type chip — the whole page recolors to that type. 2. Hit Roll six. Six nickname cards appear with type-color borders. 3. Tap any card to copy that nickname. Reroll until a set lands.

If you are nicknaming a starter, the cute picks tend to win; for competitive teams the cool and mythological picks survive longer.

Frequently asked questions

Do the nicknames fit the in-game limit?
Yes. Mainline Pokemon games allow up to twelve characters per nickname. Every entry in our pool is at or under that limit.
Why do you organize by type instead of species?
We deliberately avoid referencing specific Pokemon names — those are trademarks. Types are public design vocabulary (Fire, Water, Grass…), so we group nicknames by the aesthetic of the type rather than by the creatures themselves.
Is this affiliated with Nintendo or Game Freak?
No. Pokemon, the type icons, and all related marks belong to Nintendo, Game Freak and The Pokemon Company. We use no sprites, no logos, no trademarked names.
What's a "punny" nickname?
A nickname that is a wordplay on the type's flavor — e.g. for the Electric type aesthetic: Sparkles, Voltz, Joltie. Compact, playful, often the funniest pick of the six.
Can I use these for any game?
Yes. They fit any game with a 10–12 character nickname slot. Many also work for pet names, fantasy characters and stream handles.
Why does the page recolor?
It's a small thing but the type-color palette change makes the nickname cards feel like they belong to that type — fire reds, ice blues, ghost purples, and so on.
