About the aesthetics

The Aesthetic Name Generator isn't one generator — it's ten, sharing one input. Each tab swaps the palette, the typeface, the page background and the kind of names the roller produces. Cottagecore gives you Marigold Hollow and a sentence about jam-stained fingers. Cyberpunk gives you Vex-Krome and a one-line bio about ramen at 3am. The tone matches the vibe.

Each aesthetic ships with thirty-plus first names, thirty-plus surnames and twenty-plus mood descriptors that we picked by hand to flatter that subculture's actual conventions — not a generic word soup. The current aesthetic:

How to use it

  1. Pick an aesthetic — Tap a chip at the top. The whole page changes palette, font and accent colour to match — try a few in a row to feel the difference.
  2. Roll six names — Each roll gives you six names, each with a one-line vibe descriptor in the same key as the aesthetic.
  3. Optionally seed it — The seed input is optional. Drop in a word, mood or even your real name and the roll uses it as a hint, while still respecting the aesthetic.
  4. Copy and share — Hit Copy on any card to grab the name. The link in your address bar carries the aesthetic, so you can share what you're seeing.

Just need a username?

If you only want a one-word handle without the bio prose, the Aesthetic Username Generator tool is the same idea on a shorter leash — single tokens, faster rolls, same ten vibes.

Frequently asked questions

What's an aesthetic?
An aesthetic is a packaged visual + cultural vibe — a colour palette, a fashion shorthand, a soundtrack, a way of decorating a room. Cottagecore, dark academia, Y2K and the rest are the ones that exploded on Tumblr/TikTok and have a recognisable visual grammar.
Can I use these as real names?
Yes — for characters, usernames, drag personas, OCs, blog handles. Some are also viable real first names. None are trademarked; all are generated from word lists.
Why does the page change colour?
Each aesthetic ships its own palette, fonts and decorative glow via CSS variables. The visual swap is half the point — you should feel the difference between cottagecore and cyberpunk before you read a single name.
Are the bios template-generated?
Yes — each aesthetic has twenty-plus hand-written vibe phrases. We pair two at random per card, separated with a punctuation flourish that fits the aesthetic.
Can I share my favourite?
Yes. The current aesthetic is in the URL, so anyone who opens the link lands on the same vibe. The seed input also persists, so a roll you liked can be reproduced.
Is anything stored?
Nothing. Every roll runs in your browser, the seed never leaves your device, and we don't log anything.
