About this generator

This is a fan-made WoW race name generator. Pick one of ten races — Orc, Troll, Blood Elf, Tauren, Worgen, Night Elf, Dwarf, Human, Undead, Goblin — and we roll a name from a hand-curated word list that respects each race's naming conventions: guttural compounds for Orcs, apostrophe-broken syllables for Trolls and Blood Elves, nature noun-phrases for Tauren, aristocratic English for Worgen, patronymics for Humans, runic compounds for Dwarves, and so on.

Every roll comes with a character card showing the race, the faction crest (Horde or Alliance), and a one-line bio so the name feels like it has a person behind it. This is original execution — we use no Blizzard logos, sprites or trademarks.

How to use

1. Click a race chip at the top of the page. 2. Hit Roll character to generate a name and a short bio. 3. Copy the name or share the page if you like the result. Keep rolling until something clicks.

If you are stuck on a class fantasy, try a few races in a row — the bio prompts often spark concepts you would not have written from scratch.

Frequently asked questions

Are these real lore names?
No — every name is generated from original word lists tuned to match the way each race usually sounds. We never reuse named NPCs from the games.
Can I use these in World of Warcraft?
Yes. The names follow each race's syllable shape, so they tend to fit the in-game name policy. If a specific name is taken, just roll again.
Why do some names use apostrophes?
Trolls and Blood Elves use apostrophe-broken syllables in their canonical naming patterns (Vol'jin, Sin'dorei). We replicate that shape without copying any specific in-game character.
Is this affiliated with Blizzard?
No. This is a fan-made tool. World of Warcraft, the Horde, the Alliance and all related marks belong to Blizzard Entertainment. We don't use their logos, art or trademarks.
Do the bios mean anything?
They are short prompts — one-line story seeds. Use them as a starting point for a backstory, or ignore them entirely.
Why does the page change color when I pick a race?
Horde races shift the accent toward red, Alliance races toward blue. It is a small thing but it makes the card feel like it belongs to the right banner.
